You’re at the airport and hear an announcement, but you can’t quite make out the gate number it mentions. At the gym, you can see the television screen, but following what’s being said is another story. Even with hearing aids, distance and background noise can still make certain listening situations challenging.
That’s where Auracast™ broadcast audio can help. This exciting Bluetooth® technology is designed to send audio directly to compatible hearing aids, helping you hear more clearly in places where distance, noise, or acoustics can get in the way.
At Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus Center, you can experience Auracast firsthand with a live demonstration right here in our clinic.
What Is Auracast?
Think of Auracast as Wi-Fi for sound. Using Bluetooth® technology, you can select an available audio broadcast, much like you would choose a wireless network. The major difference between Auracast and traditional Bluetooth® is that, rather than connecting one phone to one pair of headphones, a single Auracast source can broadcast audio to multiple compatible devices within range.
Those devices can include hearing aids, earbuds, and headphones, allowing you and someone sitting beside you to listen to the same broadcast through your own compatible devices.
As more venues introduce Auracast, you could use it to:
· Follow airport announcements directly through your hearing aids
· Enjoy museum audio guides while exploring an exhibit
· Hear a theater performance with audio delivered directly to your ears
· Tune in to a fitness center’s television audio instead of relying on captions alone
These experiences require an Auracast-equipped location and compatible hearing devices, and although availability will vary, the technology offers an exciting glimpse into a future where hearing clearly in public spaces is easier and more accessible.
How Can Auracast Help Hearing Aid Users?
Clearer Access to the Sound You Want
In a busy room, sound has to travel through conversations, echoes, and background noise before it reaches you, which can make it harder to follow what’s being said.
Auracast sends the original audio directly to compatible hearing aids, reducing your reliance on a distant loudspeaker and helping you hear speech and other audio more clearly in challenging spaces. It doesn’t eliminate the sounds around you, but it gives you a more direct connection to the audio you want to hear.
More Independence in Public Spaces
With hearing aids that support direct Auracast reception, you can use your own devices instead of borrowing a venue’s headset or separate audio receiver.
Depending on your hearing aids, you may also use a compatible smartphone app or remote to find and select the broadcast. Our team can help you understand what your particular setup needs so you feel more comfortable using it away from home.
Connectivity That Fits Your Routine
Auracast gives you another way to connect with the sounds you want to hear through compatible hearing aids. However, not all Bluetooth® hearing aids support Auracast, and compatibility, software requirements, and methods for switching between listening modes can vary from one device to another.
You don’t need to navigate those details on your own. We’ll help you understand whether Auracast is available with your hearing aids and how it can fit into your everyday listening.
Try Auracast at Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus Center
Reading about new hearing technology is helpful, but trying it for yourself makes it much more personal. The good news is that we have Auracast set up in our clinic now, so you can try a live demonstration with compatible hearing aids and explore how direct audio streaming sounds to you.
During your visit, our team will guide you through finding a broadcast, connecting compatible hearing aids, and adjusting the listening experience. You’ll then have time to ask questions and learn how Auracast works with new hearing aid models.
Whether you’re considering your first hearing aids or thinking about an upgrade, we’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and how you spend your day. From there, we can help you explore the options that fit naturally into your routine and support the way you want to hear.
Discover What’s Next for Your Hearing
Hearing technology continues to evolve, creating new ways to stay connected to the places, people, and activities you enjoy. With personalized guidance, you can explore these advances and find the options that make sense for your needs and lifestyle.
Ready to hear Auracast in action? Contact Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus Center today to book an appointment. We’d be happy to demonstrate the technology in our clinic and help you explore your hearing aid options.
